My name is Eoghan (Owen) Walsh and I am a 26 year old Irishman living in Hanoi city at the moment. I have been working in Hanoi for some time now and always receive positive and enthusiastic feedback from fellow teachers, teacher's assistants, students and parents.
I am currently working as an English teacher at Popodoo English Center on Hoang Ngan doing an approximate 18 scheduled hours a week. I also help them cover any classes where needed, including 4 other Popodoo centers around Hanoi city. In addition to this I work for a recruitment agency EIV, covering teaching hours at various schools throughout the city, often at short notice.
In summary I am a very enthusiastic and effective teacher with a proven teaching method that produces great results. I am a team player who gets along with fellow staff, students of all ages and parents. I have thought a range of ages from 3-15, with most of my experience focusing on the age group 3-11. I have also thought in different types of schools, ranging from small English centers with just 8 children per class to Popodoo centers which usually have between 8 and 20 children per class and are very organised, to public schools with up to 45 children per class.
I am very confident in teaching English as I have a lot of experience and I also have experience teaching Maths and Science through English. I am constantly developing my lesson planning and classroom management abilities and my classes are always controlled and motivated while still being a lot of fun for students. I have completed a 4 years Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering and this helps me when teaching Math or Science and it is also a great help in time management and class organisation in general as well as being of use when planning lessons.
My contract with Popodoo is coming to a close at the end of January and though they have offered me a renewal for the contract I am eager to branch and use my skills and experiences in a new center, one where I can settle down and get thoroughly involved in the school and classroom and really see the benefits of my teaching.
