Candidates About

I believe that Vietnam would be the ideal place to hone my skills as an English teacher. After spending three weeks in this beautiful country, I knew that I would come back teach. In particular, I could see myself living and working in Hanoi - my favourite place!

I have taught classes only as a volunteer up to this point so now is my time to grow in a professional capacity. My current job does not allow for professional development anywhere near as much as English teaching would nor does it allow me to contribute to a stronger global society. I feel that I could be of great assistance to any student with the desire to improve his or her English abilities. If I can improve one person’s life – give them a better chance of finding a job or helping them gain the confidence to visit an English-speaking country – then my role as a teacher has been successful.

My greatest passion in life is to help others to achieve their potential. There is nothing that I find more rewarding than making a difference in another person’s life, than facilitating others to create a change, no matter how great or how insignificant it may be. I want to use my passion for helping others to contribute to the global society, to encourage people of all generations to follow the dreams.

I will arrive in Hanoi on March 3rd 2017!

Work & Experience

I have no formal experience but I have taught students of varying language proficiency through volunteering and personal experience (such as assisting my friends and family members with their own school work).

Volunteer experience:1. Fitzroy Learning Centre (June to Dec 2015): Assisted in and facilitated my own English classes for Non-Native English speakers. I only stopped because it conflicted with my work responsibilities.2. Connecting Home (April 2013 to April 2014): Assisted in research for various projects, created a questionnaire for case managers to better address clients'wellbeing, and even spoke with some clients about their personal experiences.3. Other volunteer positions I partook in throughout high school, including:- Regular visits to an Aged Care residential facility, in which I facilitated group activities and supported the residents through social interations;- A twelve-week, one-on-one reading program in which I helped a primary school student better their reading and comprehension skills.

Other experience:1. Created and delivered classes on my own lesson plans on various topics (grammar, the macro-skills, etc).2. Developed and administered language test (used to assess English Language proficiency).3. Administered an Intake Interview.
