Candidates About

Teaching English in Vietnam is something I've often thought about as a long-term ;al for my teaching career. I recieved my Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Central College in the United States and served with the United States Peace Corps as a biology and chemistry teacher for two years in Kenya. I'm now ready to take the next step in my teaching career.

For just over two years I taught in a secondary school in rural Kenya, making lesson plans and teaching 32 class hours per week in a classroom of 70+ students. What seemed like the greatest challenge in life turned into my favorite job. Although language and cultural barriers were prevalent in my first few months as a teacher, I found creative ways to meet my students' learning needs. Upon returning to the states, I have been actively tutoring with Tutor Doctor in Colorado, and have had great success in helping one student become self sufficient in her learning.

I learned so much about various teaching styles and how each students' learning could be met. I love using my creativity in the classroom, and have a very active and flexible teaching style.

When I returned to the United States I started thinking about more opportunities to teach overseas, and South Asia became a priority. I recieved my 100 hour TEFL certification from Bridge Linguatec in 2013 in preparation for this next step.

I would love the opportunity for an interview, and would be committed to teaching for at least one year, with hopes to continue indefinitely.

Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to moving forward in this process.
